Carolyn Horvath was born in Cleveland, Ohio. She holds a Master?s Degree in Education from Cleveland State University and an undergraduate degree from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh. Carolyn has been involved in spiritual ministry for over 40 years, founding and directing a House of Prayer in Barberton, Ohio, from 1972 till 1983 when she moved back to Cleveland to direct Hope House. Carolyn has extensive experience as a spiritual director, creative liturgy planner and presider, liturgical dancer, conference planner and gardener. Carolyn is a Certified Leader and Mentor Teacher for Dances of Universal Peace. She is also a Reiki Master teacher. She and Tom married in 1989 and continue together to co-direct Hope House. Carolyn is a member of the Federation of Christian Ministries. Carolyn is commissioned for ministry by Hope House of Prayer, Inc., which on March 11, 2013 was reclassified by the IRS as a church.
Tom Leonhardt was born in Toledo, Ohio. He holds a Licentiate in Sacred Theology from the Bellarmine School of Theology of Loyola University in Chicago. Tom has done graduate studies in Sociology. His undergraduate degree in Medieval Latin, is from Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio. Tom is an experienced liturgist, spiritual director, a Certified Teacher and Mentor Teacher for Dances of Universal Peace, a Reiki Master Teacher, a Karuna Reiki Master Teacher, member of the Federation of Christian Ministries. He describes himself as a non-mainline Christian, regarding Jesus as a wisdom teacher and desert mystic. Tom is commissioned for ministry by Hope House of Prayer, Inc., which was reclassified by the IRS on March 11, 2013 as a church.
Carolyn and Tom currently work at the Kent State University College of Podiatric Medicine as exam proctors, simulated and standardized patients. They take delight in being afforded the opportunity to be a small part of the training and formation of future Doctors of Podiatric Medicine. Our experience at the college has created in us the conviction that the College of Podiatric Medicine is an outstanding school.
